Internationalisation
We help small and medium-sized enterprises enter international markets and seize new business opportunities.
What is internationalisation to third countries?
Internationalisation is a way for SMEs to expand their business beyond the borders of the European economy. There are many exciting opportunities for companies in global markets, but also many new challenges. That is why we focus on supporting companies with innovative potential to expand outside the European Union’s single market – i.e. outside the EU countries, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The aim is to facilitate companies’ entry into so-called third countries, to help them navigate the new business, legislative and cultural environment and to support their successful operation in new markets. They can take advantage of CzechTrade’s expert advice, the know-how of Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) partners and practical assistance from foreign offices.
Why is internationalisation important?
- Entering foreign markets helps firms grow, strengthen their stability and reduce their dependence on the domestic economy.
- Internationalisation allows you to spread business risks, reach new customers and increase your competitiveness.
- It opens up access to new trends, technologies and know-how for companies.
- By being present in global markets, the company strengthens its brand and credibility and improves its bargaining position vis-à-vis partners, investors and employees.

Tip from CzechTrade consultants
“Successful internationalisation does not start with market selection, but with a realistic assessment of your company’s readiness. We recommend starting with small steps – verifying product interest, market analysis and consultation with experts. The right approach can save a lot of time, costs and unnecessary risks.”
